About Me

My concerns as an artist and as a human are twofold: 1) (un)fairness and (in)justice, and 2) our threatened environment and the world we will leave behind.

We live in dark times, in a country where there is neither fairness nor justice, a country controlled by the wealthy few who dominate our economy and, with malice and purpose, promote fear and mistrust of “the other,” dividing those at the bottom and inciting some to antagonize, attack, and even kill those whom they fear.

These same controlling interests ravage the land, air, and sea with myriad pollutants and carcinogens, literally disrupting nature and putting every species on the planet at risk of extinction, including our own. As time runs out, even those who address the issue do so with half measures that are way too little, too late.

In addition, we are now faced with an immediate, life-threatening crisis in COVID-19, a disease that affects us all, but disproportionately kills the weak and the poor, and the country’s leaders and their backers worry more about their jobs and money than about their constituents and fellow citizens, demanding an impossible return to normalcy even as cases and deaths continue to climb.

My work, for the most part, is reflective of these concerns.
